Description
This pneumatic cylinder is double acting, meaning it requires air pressure to extend and retract the rod. The cylinder adheres to ISO 15552 (replaces VDMA 24562 and ISO 6431), which is a globally accepted and widely used standard. The advantage is that it enables world-wide inter-changeability with other major brands such as SMC or Norgren. The bore size is 40 mm and it has a stroke length of 200 mm. This cylinder has an operating pressure of 0.6 bar to 10 bar (8.702 to 145.038 psi). The piston rod has a M12 x 1.25 threads at the end. The piston contains a magnetic element. This allows precise position feedback of the rod location by mounting (one or more) magnetic sensors, such as reed or hall sensors. The damping on the both ends of the stroke is adjustable with set screws. The cylinder has two G 1/4 inch ports for the air routing. The cylinder can be mounted rigid or flexible with a wide range of mounting options, such as rod swivel joint ends (ISO 8139) or rod fork ends. The cylinder head, foot and tube are made from 304 stainless steel and the piston rod is made from 316 stainless steel. The Airtec ISO 15552 cylinders are compatible with the following product series: Asco G453, Aventics PRA, Festo DSBC, IMI Norgren PRA, Parker P1D, Parker P1F and the SMC CP96 series.
Pros:
- ISO 15552 is globally accepted and interchangeable with other major brands
- Suitable for aggressive or wet environments thanks to the stainless steel design
- Double acting cylinders can apply pressure in two directions and offer more motion control than single acting cylinders
- The end of the rod stroke can be adjusted for damping
- The cylinder is self lubricating and requires little maintenance
Cons:
- Not suited for icy conditions
